61% said Senate Elisha Abbo should be arrested while 31% said he should be suspended from the Senate.

Senator Elisha Abbo, representing Adamawa Senatorial district, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) was caught on a camera physical assaulting a woman at an adult toy shop in Abuja.

Abbo in the video was seen slapping a woman who pleaded with him not to assault the shop owner whom the Senator accused of insulting him.

According to him he said the shop owner called him a drunk.

Reacting to the video, Senator Abbo said the owner of the shop only released a part of the video. He said the other part of the video showing where his younger sister was assaulted in the shop was taken out of the clip.

However, shortly after the initial reaction, Abbo made u-turn, apologised to Nigerians, the PDP and women in general for physically assaulting a lady. He made the apology at a press conference at the PDP headquarters in Abuja. The senator, with teary eyes at the briefing as seen in the press conference video (between 2 mins 30 secs and 2 mins 50 secs), asked for forgiveness. Nevertheless, a poll conducted to get the pulse of Nigerians concerning the assault shows that Abbo’s apology may not be enough.
